On Friday, July 3, the City of DeSoto will launch a new summer tradition with the debut of the Family Reunion BBQ at the recently opened Aquatic and Recreation Center (The ARC) at McCowan Park. Featuring barbecue, live music, and activities for all ages, the event is designed to bring generations together in celebration and connection. Guests can also enjoy a community soccer watch party, capturing the energy of an international summer of competition. With games, fitness activities, and local vendors rounding out the experience, the Family Reunion BBQ offers a full day of food, fun, and community spirit.
The celebration continues Saturday, July 4, at Grimes Park, where DeSoto and the City of Lancaster host a joint Independence Day celebration. The evening features live music, food vendors, activities for all ages, and a spectacular fireworks show to close out the night.
Together, these events showcase what makes DeSoto special, strong traditions, new spaces, and a community that comes together to celebrate.
