40-Hour Domestic Mediation Training

Keystone Mediation will once again offer its in-demand 40-hour Domestic Mediation Training from October 6–10, 2025, at the Hyatt Place in Munster, Indiana. This intensive, weeklong program equips participants with the skills and knowledge required to become a Registered Domestic Mediator with the Indiana Supreme Court. Participants come from a variety of professional backgrounds—including law, mental health, education, human resources, and ministry. Some are expanding their services; others are pursuing a career change toward more people-centered work. This course meets all requirements for inclusion on the Indiana Supreme Court’s Domestic Relations Mediation Registry and is open to anyone with a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution. Attendees will earn 40 hours of Continuing Mediation Education (CME) and 24 hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE), including 6 ethics hours. The training will be led by Attorney Jill S. Swope, Family Law Lawyer at Sterba, Swope & Horecky, LLP in Schererville, and Certified Family Law Specialist (as Certified by the Family Law Certification Board), and Matthew Carroll, President of the Indiana Association of Mediators, Professor of Mediation at Northwestern University and Aurora University, and owner of Keystone Mediation in Dyer, Indiana. The October training will feature a faculty and coaching team representing legal, mental health, and academic perspectives. In addition to core mediation skills, participants will learn from professionals with deep experience in family conflict and court-involved cases. Featured faculty include mental health expert and mediator Erinn Boone, MA, LCPC; Porter County Magistrates Mark Hardwick and Ana Osan; and Amy Applegate, JD, Clinical Professor of Law at Indiana University Maurer School of Law - a nationally recognized leader in intimate partner violence education and creator of the MASIC screening tool. Coaching will be provided by experienced mediators from across Indiana, giving participants direct access to practitioners actively working in the field. Training costs are $1100 (digital materials) or $1200 (printed materials), and includes a training manual, handouts, case law examples, and hands-on simulations.
