WEST PALM BEACH (May 13, 2025)—Father's Day is approaching. Families across Palm Beach County are invited to a vibrant, community-powered Father's Day Tailgate Celebration at Gaines Community Park in West Palm Beach on Sunday, June 15, 2025. This free event, made possible by collaborating with local businesses and community organizations, promises a day filled with fun, food, and festivities honoring dads of all ages.
The Father's Day Tailgate Celebration will feature family-friendly games, classic activities like dominoes and spades, and enjoyable options for kids, including bounce houses and crafts. Dads can take advantage of free haircuts and massages in the Dad’s Den, while everyone relishes free food, live entertainment, and a kid-friendly dance party.
There will also be raffle prizes, including sports tickets, grill kits, and fishing gear. A highlight of the event will be the presentation of the "Father of the Year" award, recognizing a local dad for his commitment, love, and community spirit. The winner will receive a special gift and public recognition.
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy,” said event chair Tayson Gaines, quoting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “That’s exactly the kind of strength and character we aim to celebrate with this award.”
Research emphasizes the importance of engaged fathers in children's lives. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services states that children with involved fathers generally excel academically, avoid risky behaviors, and have better emotional health. This is especially vital for Black and Brown families, where absent or disengaged fathers can worsen social and economic inequalities.
