2026 Juneteenth Celebration at Centennial Lakes Park
Celebrate Black history, culture and freedom at the 2026 Juneteenth Festival, which will take place noon to 4 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Centennial Lakes Park, 7499 France Ave. S. The festival will once again be hosted by Joint Community Policing Partnership (JCPP) Liaison Jessica Connors and the Anti-Racism Collective (ARC). The mayors of Edina and Richfield, two council members and the Edina Police Chief Todd Milburn will be featured at the event.
“As we look forward to celebrating Juneteenth, our department is committed to the values of transparency, respect, and partnership,” Milburn said. “We understand that true community safety is built on a foundation of trust, and we remain dedicated to listening and learning with the diverse neighborhoods we serve.”
This free, family-friendly celebration will have “A Cultural Journey Through History” theme that will start with a youth segment at the entry of Hughes Pavilion from noon to 2 p.m. A kids DJ will play interactive songs while an emcee encourages the kids to dance and move.
The mainstage will kick off at 1:45 p.m. with KOMJ-FM radio personality Chantel Sings, Valley View Middle School Principal Patrick Bass and music by DJ S. Dot. Other programs include spoken word performances by Joe Davis from the Roho Collective, the youth choir from Proverbs Christian Fellowship Church, and Dance with Vuyd performing African-rooted dances.
“Richfield is proud to partner in and support events like ‘A Cultural Journey Through History,’ which create space for learning, connection, and community celebration across generations,” said Richfield Mayor Mary Supple. “Juneteenth is an opportunity to recognize and reflect on an important part of our nation’s history while also celebrating the strength, culture and contributions of our Black community.”
Families can enter a painting and art contest for a chance to win Juneteenth swag or giveaways. More than 25 resources tables will also be available for residents to connect, join other giveaways or learn more information.
Black-owned businesses will be selling food, includingExtract Juicery, Nanny’s Jamaican Kitchen, Soul to Soul BBQ, 2 Scoops Ice Cream Eatery and Green Garden Bakery, a youth-run business that reinvests profits into the community.
