Overview
After nearly a decade, Young, Black & Ambitious (YBA) Weekend returns to Chicago for a powerful three-day experience designed for young Black professionals who are ready to connect, lead, serve, and celebrate. Hosted by the Chicago Urban League MetroBoard, this weekend is a full-circle moment that combines leadership development, community impact, and recognition of excellence.
From Friday through Sunday, attendees will engage in purposeful programming that includes:
A welcome mixer to build relationships
A leadership workshop featuring keynote speaker Sista Afrika Porter
A service project to support local residents
A vibrant nightlife experience
And the signature Young & Ambitious Awards, honoring changemakers in our community
Whether you're a longtime member or a first-time guest, YBA Weekend is where purpose meets people, and where your next chapter in leadership begins.
EVENT BREAKDOWN
FRIDAY, APRIL 25 — WELCOME MIXER
7:00–9:00 PM | Seven Ten Social (Hyde Park)
Exclusive access to 8 bowling lanes, light bites, and music to help guests ease into the weekend through fellowship and networking.
Dress Code: Dressy casual.
SATURDAY, APRIL 26 — LEARN & SERVE
9:00 AM–3:00 PM | Chicago Urban League Headquarters
Leadership Development Workshop
9:30 AM–12:00 PM
Led by Sista Afrika Porter, this workshop equips attendees with tools to grow as advocates and leaders.
Community Service Project
12:30–3:00 PM
Support local residents with food, resources, and meaningful connections.
Dress Code: Business casual or comfortable for service.
SATURDAY NIGHT — HUENIQUE AT HUE
8:00–11:00 PM | HUE Chicago
A nightlife celebration with curated music, community energy, and cocktails.
Admission includes one drink ticket.
Dress Code: Fashion-forward nightlife chic.
SUNDAY, APRIL 27 — YOUNG & AMBITIOUS AWARDS
12:00–3:00 PM | Charles A. Hayes Family Investment Center (4859 S. Wabash Ave.)
Celebrate young Black leaders making waves in entrepreneurship, advocacy, service, and leadership.
Dress Code: Cocktail attire.
