2025 Take Steps Oklahoma

The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation invites the Oklahoma community to participate in the 2025 Take Steps Oklahoma event, scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, October 4th, at Scissortail Park in OKC. Take Steps is the Foundation’s largest fundraising event, bringing together patients, families, healthcare professionals, and supporters to honor those impacted by inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and to celebrate the progress made toward finding cures. Participants can register as individuals or teams and are encouraged to fundraise to support the Foundation’s mission. “Take Steps is more than just a walk—it’s a powerful demonstration of our community’s commitment to those battling IBD,” said Haley Ferrell, Manager of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s North & Central Texas/ Oklahoma Chapter. “Every step we take brings us closer to a future free from Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.” Take Steps Oklahoma proudly honors individuals who exemplify resilience, advocacy, and dedication in the fight against IBD: Adult Honored Hero – Virginia Martin Virginia’s journey with ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease has spanned more than a decade, navigating multiple surgeries, a breast cancer diagnosis, and years of pain and uncertainty. Today, Virginia lives with a permanent ileostomy and recently welcomed a miracle baby in December 2024. Her story is one of unwavering resilience, and she walks to remind others that healing and hope are possible. Pediatric Honored Hero – Fionn McVey Fionn’s IBD journey began just after her 11th birthday in December 2020. What started as painful symptoms and misdiagnoses eventually led to a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis after a difficult hospital stay. Since then, Fionn has faced iron infusions, joint and skin issues, bi-weekly injections, and more—but through it all, she remained active and optimistic. Most importantly, through Camp Oasis, she found a supportive community that helps her feel seen and inspired. As Fionn says, “Knowing that this community is out there working hard inspires me and makes me confident that we will find a cure.” Funds raised support the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s efforts to invest in groundbreaking research, provide educational resources, and offer support programs to improve the quality of life for those living with IBD. To date, the Foundation has invested over $500 million in research and connected with over 3 million individuals through education, support, and advocacy programs. Join us in taking steps toward cures and making a meaningful impact in the lives of those affected by IBD. Registration is open to individuals and teams, and there is no registration fee.
