The Michael Brown Sr. Chosen For Change Organization (CFC), a nonprofit organization founded by Cal and Michael Brown Sr. to uplift the life and legacy of Michael Brown Jr., will host its fifth annual Black Ball event fundraiser to support the organization's community programs and initiatives.
This year’s event will be held on August 9, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The evening will commemorate more than a decade of resilience and action in Michael Brown Jr.’s memory and will feature a keynote address by the renowned faith and justice leader Reverend Michael McBride, a cocktail reception, followed by a plated dinner, entertainment, and celebration.
The theme of this year’s Black Ball, “Building a Legacy,” reflects Chosen for Change’s continued mission to build a legacy befitting of the beloved Michael Brown, Jr.—one that advances justice, social transformation, and healing in St. Louis and beyond. At the event, CFC will announce a powerful, groundbreaking, multiyear campaign that will shape the organization’s commitment to its mission and community over the next decade.
CFC is known for empowering families to find healing, hope, and strength amid their grief. By providing compassionate care and essential community resources, the organization continues to honor Michael Brown Jr.'s legacy by supporting those affected by loss and promoting positive community transformation. Continuing this crucial work of turning pain into purpose, Michael Brown Sr. and his wife, Cal Brown, invite local, state, and national leaders, policymakers, celebrities and public figures, cultural workers, community members, and change agents of every kind to join them at this year’s Black Ball and to support CFC’s efforts to empower and engage grieving fathers, youth, and families.
