    The Power of Mary: The Promise of Her Medal

    Starting November 14, members of Mary’s Miraculous Medal Family pray for nine days to our Blessed Mother. As one family united by our devotion to Mary, we experience the rays of grace coming from her hands. Today, our world is in great need of prayer as many people seek Mary’s intercession through the power of her Miraculous Medal. Never forget that Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal came to remind us of God’s love, mercy, and grace. She came to tell us to pray, trust, and go to her altar. She came to draw us closer to her Son, Jesus.

    This Novena is held as an in-person celebration. However, it is broadcasted live every day at 12:05 p.m. (Eastern Time) at www.MiraculousMedal.org/Livestream. On the feast day of the Miraculous Medal (November 23), it will be broadcast live at 10:30 a.m.

    Send us your intentions, and we will place them at the altar of Our Blessed Mother at the Shrine — where they will remain for all nine days of the Solemn Novena.

    Each day during the Solemn Novena, Fr. Tim Lyons, CM, and Deacon James Mahoney will describe one of the many graces that Mary bestows upon us in fulfillment of the promise of her Miraculous Medal.

    Day 1: Monday, November 14

    The Grace of a Deeper Truth: Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Mary demonstrates to us the eternal truth of how we are all components of a single unified body, the Body of Christ.

    Day 2: Tuesday, November 15

    The Grace of Transparency: Seeing the Deeper Connections: Mary, as queen of the universe, grants us the gift of peace through the self-awareness of our spiritual connections with the past and the present.

    Day 3: Wednesday, November 16

    The Grace of True Freedom in God’s Holy Will: Through her perfect example, Mary reveals to us how we will find true freedom by moving in harmony with God’s plan.

    Day 4: Thursday, November 17

    The Grace of an Unfolding Perfection: Just as Mary did, we can all find our deepest joy in knowing that we are part of God’s continually unfolding perfect plan, which unites us together through Christ.

    Day 5: Friday, November 18

    The Grace to See the Wisdom of God’s Plan: Mary guides us as we strive to be present with God in each moment in order to better grasp His wisdom.

    Day 6: Saturday, November 19

    The Grace to Know Our Origin in God: Through her own knowledge of God’s great plan for us, Mary helps us comprehend how His natural and objective laws unite all mankind and connect us directly to Him.

    Day 7: Sunday, November 20

    The Grace of Coming Home to Love: Mary blesses us by showing us how to contemplate creation and say, “Thank you, God!” and thereby reciprocate the love that He has bestowed upon us through His Son, our Savior.

    Day 8: Monday, November 21

    The Grace of Finding Our Strength in a Deepening Faith: The virtue of faith is the ultimate grace that Mary bestows upon us through her perfect example, allowing us to live in the strength of our unique relationship with our Creator.

    Day 9: Tuesday, November 22

    The Grace of Finding Hope in Harmony in God’s Governance: Through her presence and prayer, Mary empowers us to find the virtue of hope in God’s objective and interconnected laws that govern us.

    On Wednesday, November 23, we will celebrate our Feast Day Mass of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, with our main celebrant, Absp. Edward Joseph Adams.

    Absp. Edward Joseph Adams, Titular Archbishop of Scala, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he attended St. Joseph’s Preparatory School, Villanova University and St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. He was ordained a priest on May 16, 1970, and graduated from the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in Rome with a degree in canon law in 1976.

    Absp. Adams entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on March 8, 1976, where he held positions in the office of the Secretary of State and in Rwanda, Kenya, Honduras, the Republic of Ireland, Denmark, and the Czech Republic. In 1996, he was appointed apostolic nuncio to Bangladesh and titular archbishop of Scala. He was consecrated on October 23, 1996, in Rome by Cardinal Angelo Sodano, the papal secretary of state.

    After six years in Bangladesh, Absp. Adams was named apostolic nuncio to Zimbabwe and five years later, he was appointed apostolic nuncio to the Philippines. In 2011, he was appointed papal nuncio to Greece and in 2017, replaced Archbishop Antonio Mennini as apostolic nuncio to Great Britain.
