10th Anniversary Michael Brown Memorial Vigil and March
On August 9, 2014, an unarmed teen was gunned down in the street by a police officer. That young man was Michael Brown; he had just graduated from high school, and the officer was never held accountable for his actions. Eliot Chapel has been holding weekly vigils ever since that tragic day: to keep the conversation alive, to continue to show up week after week, year after year, and to confirm our alliance with all those working for racial justice. This August 9th marks the tenth anniversary of Michael Brown's killing, and we will be holding a special commemorative vigil and march. (This will replace our Tuesday vigil that week.) Gather on the front lawn at Eliot Chapel on Friday, August 9. The ceremony will begin at 6:00 pm followed by a short march along Kirkwood Road with options for mobility. Return to Eliot for a final prayer, song, and guidance for what comes next. We hope you will join us.
