Description: Join us for a spectacular evening of holiday spirits, inspiration, and song to celebrate the Christmas season and honor those who protect our freedoms.
Featuring:
· World-renowned tenor Anthony Kearns will sing songs of the holiday season. Mr. Kearns is a double-platinum winning member of The Irish Tenors who has sang for four U.S. Presidents, Pope Francis I, and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at a luncheon for Medal of Honor recipients, among others.
· Co-Emcees are Erin Como of Fox5 and Debra Alfarone of WUSA9.
· Invited guests include Members of Congress and Senators (House and Senate leadership, Armed Services and Veterans Committees), Administration officials, and others.
· Regimental Toast by Colonel James Tierney, 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment (famed “Fighting 69th”, New York)
· We will raise a toast and honor those who protect our freedoms -- with a special recognition of the human-animal bond and the healing power of animals for veterans in need.
· We will be highlight the Warrior Canine Connection (which trains Golden Retrievers to be service dogs a.k.a. “Sully H.W. Bush”) and others who wish to showcase their charities before the holiday season.
? Learn how the Warrior Canine Connection was founded in 2011 to expand the availability of this therapeutic service dog-training program to DoD and VA medical treatment facilities throughout the country, and to conduct research to establish this model as an evidence-based therapy for PTS and TBI. ? Captain/Dr. Robert Koffman – a pioneer in integrative medicine and behavioral health at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence in Bethesda, Md. -- will make brief remarks. Dr. Koffman received the U.S. Special Operations Command Patriot Award for treating 68 Special Forces operators for traumatic brain injuries and psychological health conditions.
? Dr. Lynda Davis will represent the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
