On the night of June 22, 1979 the Baltimore Orioles played the Detroit Tigers at Memorial Stadium in front of 35,456 fans. In the bottom of the 9th inning O's 3rd baseman Doug Decinces hit a 2-run homer off Dave Tobik to give the Orioles a 6-5 victory and from that point "Oriole Magic" was born and it carried them all the way to the World Series. It would be the clubs 1st World Series appearance in 8-years.
