A Painter’s Paradise: Raoul Middleman’s Seascapes (Opening Reception)
Join us at the Raoul Middleman Studio Museum for the opening reception of A Painter’s Paradise: Raoul Middleman’s Seascapes. Middleman (1935 – 2021) is considered one of Baltimore's most important contemporary artists.
The paintings in this exhibition depict scenes from Buzzards Bay on the southeast side of Cape Cod, the spot where the artist and his family spent their summers. For fifty years, Middleman painted scenes from Buzzards Bay, fervently exploring the same subjects again and again, while the light, weather, and his own moods constantly shifted, resulting in a body of work as intriguing and complex as the artist himself.
