The Iron Work Farm begins the 2025 season of “4th Sunday” open houses at our two South Acton house museums, the homes of innkeeper Samuel Jones and Col. Francis Faulkner, who played important roles at the start of the Revolutionary War.
Jones Tavern, 128 Main Street, will be open from 1 to 3:00. The building exemplifies the architecture of several eras, including the original 1732 center-chimney farmhouse and the 1750 leanto taproom.
The 1707 Jones-Faulkner Homestead, 5 High Street, open from 3 to 5:00 p.m., is the oldest building in Acton, and the only local example of a First Period “long” house of a distinct English plan. On view there is a Freedom’s Way “Hidden Treasure”—the travel desk used by Col. Francis Faulkner during the Revolutionary War.
