Second Sunday Open House Tours at the Golden Ball Tavern Museum

Weston, MA - On Sunday, September 11th, 2022 the Golden Ball Tavern Museum will be open to the public for our "Second Sunday" Open House Tours from 1-3 p.m. Come take a peek inside the pre-Revolutionary world of colonial Boston. At the Golden Ball Tavern in Weston Tory ties and British Spies were on tap and trouble was brewing. See where General Gage's men stayed and strategized during a reconnaissance mission in 1775 just prior to the outbreak of war. Learn about the "other" tea party that took place at the Golden Ball three months after the Boston Tea Party in 1774.

Here you will find over 200 years of Jones family history, stories and artifacts. Six generations of the Jones family lived here from 1768 to 1963. Our knowledgeable and friendly guides will lead tours through the house and answer questions about the museum. It is a truly personal experience which is free and family friendly!

The Golden Ball Tavern was built in 1768 by Loyalist-turned-Patriot Isaac Jones, a prominent Weston resident. He built it on the Boston Post Road, one of the most significant roadways of the day and one of our nation's first highways. The Golden Ball Tavern played a pivotal role in the unfolding of the Revolutionary War when it served as a base for British spies in 1775. Our museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
