Learn about the timeless art of portrait drawing in this workshop, led by a working professional portrait artist. Portraiture has experienced a renaissance in recent years, capturing the interest of both art enthusiasts and critics alike. In addition to fulfilling commissions, some modern portrait artists are using their work to explore and address today’s social, political, and cultural landscapes, making portraiture more compelling and significant than ever.
In Portrait Drawing, designed for students who already have some basic drawing skills, we will explore relevant historic and contemporary portraits. Through hands-on practice with guided instruction, participants will learn about essential techniques for capturing likeness, expression, and personality. By the end of the workshop, students will be working toward confidently creating their own portraits.
