During Holy Week, on Wednesday April 5, we are offering the opportunity to focus more deeply on Jesus life as we walk a labyrinth in the St. Mary Anne’s Parish Center, 315 S. Main St., North East.
A labyrinth helps direct one's focus toward God. Unlike a maze, which has dead ends and the possibility of getting lost, a labyrinth is a single path that winds from the outer edge in a circuitous way to the center. This path sometimes takes unexpected twists and turns as we walk. In this way, it resembles the journey of life. A labyrinth is used for walking meditation.
Labyrinths are used worldwide as a way to quiet the mind, calm anxieties, recover balance in life, enhance creativity, encourage meditation, insight, and a way to get closer to God.
Recently, our Northern Convocation clergy, were led by Rev. Susan Oldfather from St. Mark’s in a Lenten Quiet Day. The clergy agreed that the experience was a wonderful opportunity to be with God in reflection, prayer and meditation. We’d like to share that experience with our parishes!
Carol Weisel of St. Mary Anne’s Lay Ministry team will be facilitating. We hope you can join us on Wednesday, April 5, beginning at 6pm to walk the labyrinth with us in prayer as we prepare for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter. You are welcome to come at any time between 6 pm and 8 pm. All are invited! *
*Shoes do need to be removed to keep the labyrinth clean for all! Coffee, tea and water will be provided.
