This Event has Passed
Learn natural dye methods including how to prepare your fabrics for natural dye, how to mordant and how to develop a custom color palette. The workshop will begin with tutorials mordanting for different fiber types, swatch development on how to create recipes to make a rainbow of color. After the tutorials, each participant will be encouraged scale up their recipes for fabric, garments or yarn brought from home. Each participant will leave with a notebook of swatches created with plant dyes.
This workshop is great for makers who want to expand their knowledge on how to create their own natural dye palette in their own studios or home, as well as those who want to dye full sized garments without making a mess at home. This is a great opportunity to freshen up favorites from your wardrobe that are made of cotton, linen, silk, wool, hemp and other natural fibers.
Included in this workshop will be a notebook for swatches, swatches of cotton and silk as well as a light lunch and tea. Please note that while we may have an indigo vat going at this event, that this will heavily focus on mordant dyes.
