Fauquier Community Theatre presents the play "The Greatest Generation Speaks" Feb. 3 - 19, 2023
The world premier play based on Tom Brokaw's book "The Greatest Generation Speaks" will take place on Fridays and weekends between February 3 - 19, 2023 in Warrenton, Virginia. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees are at 2 pm. More information and reservations for tickets can be found at www.FCTstage.org.
The play is adapted for stage and directed by Harry J. Kantrovich and focuses on real life accounts of the World War II era portrayed by 30 actors. Tammy Peters, an actress in the show describes it best, "This show brings to life the recollections and responses of real people who were inspired by Brokaw’s bestselling book, 'The Greatest Generation,' to write about or record their own feelings and experiences. Our characters, whether they served or not, tell how they were impacted by World War II. Whether they suffered losses, made invaluable friendships, gained profound insight years later, or all of the above, our characters share captivating stories and reflections."
Tom Brokaw, reflected: "When I wrote about the men and women who came out of the Depression, who won great victories and made lasting sacrifices in World War II and then returned home to begin building the world we have today ... it was my way of saying thank you. I was not prepared for the avalanche of letters and responses touched off by that book. I had written a book about America, and now America was writing back. From the front lines of battle to the back porches of beloved hometowns, The Greatest Generation Speaks brings to life the hopes and dreams of a generation who fought our most hard-won victories, and whose struggles and sacrifices made our future possible." - Tom Brokaw
The show opens on Friday, February 3 and will include an opening night reception of light refreshments following the performance. The Sunday matinee performances will feature various post-show talkback sessions directly after the play with expert panelists answering questions about the World War II era. "The Greatest Generation Speaks" is produced by Don Richardson and the show sponsor is Jones Group International.
