2nd Annual "A December to Remember"
Tribute at The Glen Hosts Free Holiday Event to Raise Awareness for Alzheimer’s Association.
Tribute at the Glen, a senior living community in Woodbridge, is bringing back their hugely successful indoor/outdoor holiday event, A December to Remember, in honor and in memory of those with dementia and loved ones lost from the disease. This community event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 21 and will feature a holiday light competition, an ice skating rink, a luminary ceremony, winter carnival games, Santa, live performances, and more. Admission is free to this public event, and representatives from the Alzheimer's Association will be accepting donations on site.
“A December to Remember is all about family, memories, love, community, the spirit of Christmas, and so much more,” said Michelle Mindock, Community Relations Director at Tribute at The Glen. “This event will bring the warmth of the holiday spirit to all who come. We want to light up the night on the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, in order to give hope and healing to anyone touched by Alzheimer’s Disease.”
Businesses and other local organizations have decorated portions of the path behind the Tribute at the Glen senior community as part of a holiday light competition. During the event, this Grand Illumination of Lights can be accessed by walking or riding a trackless train. The light displays will be judged by residents, their families, the Tribute at The Glen team, and the community, with trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as prizes for each decorating team.
Inside the senior living community, guests can visit the many rooms decorated in movie themes, such as Santa’s Workshop, Whoville, the Polar Express, a Frozen themed Winter Wonderland, and more.
Both Santa and the Grinch will be on site, and there will be live performances featuring the Frozen Princesses with Olaf, Snow Princesses, Classic Christmas Carolers, and Elvis singing Christmas songs, too! RSVP is required; call 703-489-4724 or email [email protected].
