Bank of America, Merrill and Bank of America Private Bank credit and debit cardholders can receive FREE general admission to one of Washington, DC’s most in-demand cultural attractions Saturday and Sunday, January 6th and 7th, 2024.
On January 6th and 7th, Bank of America cardholders will have the opportunity to visit the traveling exhibit African Modernism in America, 1947-67 during its closing weekend at The Phillips Collection and One-on-One: Ugo Rondinone / Louis Eilshemius, which closes on January 14, 2024. African Modernism in America features more than 70 artworks by 50 African and African American artists – including David Driskell, Ibrahim El-Salahi, Ben Enwonwu, Jacob Lawrence, Demas Nwoko, and Uche Okeke – and examines the connections between modern African artists and American patrons, artists, and cultural organizations in the postwar period. To mark the end of the exhibition, The Phillips Collection is collaborating with AFROPUNK Spaces and hosting a conversation between esteemed art historians Dr. Salah M. Hassan, Cornell University, and Dr. Chika Okeke-Agulu, Princeton University. The event is free to attend but registration is required. One-on-One: Ugo Rondinone / Louis Eilshemius features paintings by Louis Michel Eilshemius (1864–1941) drawn from both the Phillips’s collection and Ugo Rondinone’s (b. 1964, Brunnen, Switzerland) expansive personal collection of Eilshemiuses, alongside works by the acclaimed contemporary artist.
