Doors opening at 6:30 pm. This free event offers all attendees an opportunity to honor the birth of Jesus Christ through George Handel’s beloved “Messiah.” Attendees can enjoy the experience of listening to both the choir and orchestra perform this inspired music and will also have opportunities to join with the choir to sing-along with several selections.
“We hope this Sing-along will foster a spirit of unity and love in sacred remembrance of the Savior’s birth,” said Michael Todd, who presides over the ten of the greater Loudoun County LDS Church congregations. “The music of ‘Messiah’ allows us to feel joy and connection, regardless of our denomination or creed.”
Participants are encouraged to bring their own copy of the “Messiah” score, though a limited number of copies will be available at the event. For added convenience, event materials, including a QR code linked to the music, may be made available online upon request.
The local LDS Church congregations have been performing the “Messiah” on a bi-annual basis for 15 years and our members hope that the Ashburn “Messiah” Sing-along will continue to be part of a longstanding tradition, inspired by Handel’s original performances, which brings people together at this special season of the year. In that spirit, this evening of music aims to foster unity and uplift the community.
