ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Ann Marie Stephens was an elementary teacher for over 30 years and is the author of nine picture books. A contributing writer for Kwame Alexander’s The Write Thing, she blogs for teachers at http://2happyteachers.blogspot.com . Sue Fliess has contributed articles to O, the Oprah Magazine, Huffington Post, http://Education.com , http://TravelMuse.com , Bay Area Parent, Writer’s Digest, and more, and is the author of more than a dozen picture books. When she’s not writing, she is busy with her two young boys and loves to travel. She lives with her husband, kids, and a smart English Labrador pup named Charlie in Ashburn, Virginia.
Malcolm Newsome is a children’s book author living in the Chicago area. His first book, Dear Star Baby, came out in 2023. When he’s not writing or spending time with family, you’ll probably find him either reading, spending time outside in his mini-orchard, or being a lumberjack. Van G. Garrett is the author of Kicks, his debut picture book, and Juneteenth. An acclaimed poet, he won the Poetry Question National Chapbook Contest for Scrap and the Best Book of African American Poetry from the Texas Association of Authors for 49: Wings and Prayers. He is a musician and visual artist.

Children’s Book Week is the annual celebration of books for young people and the joy of reading.
Established in 1919, Children’s Book Week is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. Every year, young people across the country participate by attending events at schools, libraries, bookstores, celebrating at home, and engaging with book creators both online and in person.
