Will the United States and China, with other powerful countries following suit, approach current and future climate initiatives with an increased commitment to trade protectionism and nationalism by various measures including trade restrictions? Or could a growing spirit of international accord develop to confront the "common enemy" of climate change?
Join us for a discussion of the article "Global Trade and Green Energy," which is attached to the registration page or available at Reston Library. We will be joined by the author of the article, Bud Ward. Mr. Ward started his career as the Managing Editor of the Bureau of National Affairs' Environment Reporter. After that, his condensed list of accomplishments include serving for three years as Assistant Director of the U.S. Congress’s National Commission on Air Quality, under the Clean Air Act; founding and editing The Environmental Forum, a monthly policy magazine; establishing the Environmental Health Center for a large nonprofit organization; founding Environment Writer, a monthly newsletter for reporters and editors covering natural resources and environmental issues; co-founding the Society of Environmental Journalists; serving as a regular environmental analyst for National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” and “Morning Edition"; and founding and managing the foundation-funded Central European Environmental Journalism Program.
A short film on the topic will be shown at 1:00, followed by a discussion at 1:30.
