RCA CAPITAL REGION PRESENTS “THE STATE OF BLACK AMERICA” FORUM ON OPIOID CRISIS AND COMMUNITY ISSUES
WHAT: Recovery Centers of America (RCA) Capital Region presents “The State of Black America,” a forum in honor of Black History Month, to address the impact substance use disorder and the opioid crisis are having on our community. The free event is open to the public and features moderator Walter Kirkland, founding charter president of 100 Black Men of Prince George's County, and Quincy Bareebe, CEO of a homecare agency and congressional candidate for Maryland’s 5th congressional district. Fredericka Ford, CEO of RCA Capital Region will host the event and provide opening comments.
Attendees will:
• Hear from addiction treatment specialists and community leaders about the state of the opioid crisis in the region, including local data and efforts on crime and safety and evidence-based solutions
• Discuss social disparities impacting the Black community’s access to treatment and ways to destigmatize addiction
• Connect with people in recovery
