PAWFEST II: Pet Adoption, Military K9 Demonstrations & Pet & Family Food Insecurity Drive

PAWFEST II is a free, family-friendly community event hosted by Wounded Paw Project® and dedicated to pet re-adoption, responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, community engagement, and supporting families and pets in need. Created in response to the growing number of animals surrendered to shelters after being purchased or gifted without a long-term commitment plan, PAWFEST II seeks to raise awareness, promote responsible pet ownership, support local shelters and rescue organizations, and help more animals find loving forever homes. Our goal is simple: reduce shelter returns and provide second chances for animals in need. This year's event expands beyond animal welfare through our Pet & Family Food Insecurity Drive. Wounded Paw Project® believes that no family should have to choose between feeding themselves and caring for a beloved companion animal. Through this initiative, we are working to support both people and pets facing difficult circumstances while advancing our mission of **"HELPING ON BOTH ENDS OF THE LEASH."** PAWFEST II will feature: • Adoptable pets from local shelters and rescue organizations • Military Working Dog (K9) demonstrations • Community partners and nonprofit organizations • Veteran and Military Service Organizations (VSOs/MSOs) • Educational resources and responsible pet ownership information • Vendors and exhibitors • Pet & Family Food Insecurity Drive donation opportunities • Family-friendly activities and community engagement One of the highlights of the event will be demonstrations by Military Working Dog teams. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the training, capabilities, and service of these remarkable dogs and their handlers. Demonstrations are scheduled for approximately 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 3:00 PM. PAWFEST II will be held on the historic grounds of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial in Alexandria, Virginia. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the event while also exploring the surrounding area, including nearby Old Town Alexandria. Whether you are looking to adopt a pet, support local rescue organizations, learn more about Military Working Dogs, donate to families and pets facing food insecurity, or simply enjoy a day with fellow animal lovers, PAWFEST II offers something for everyone.
