Joan was arrested and imprisoned, endured harassment and violence at the 1963 Woolworth lunch counter sit ins and knew and worked with many of the icons of the Civil Rights movement. Today she has advice for a new generation of changemakers. This event is hosted by Mount Olivet United Methodist Church and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and is co-sponsored by the Arlington Historical Society, Calloway United Methodist Church, the Black Heritage Museum of Arlington, and Challenging Racism. This is live streamed and in-person. Advanced registration appreciated but not required. Walk-ins are welcome!
