Taste of Old Town North celebrates the food, music, shops, and people of Alexandria neighborhood Alexandria,VA - August 27, 2024 - Come enjoy the best local food, music and more at the Taste of Old Town North! The Taste will take place Thursday, September 19, 4:00- 8:00 p.m., in Montgomery Park, 901 North Royal Street, Alexandria, VA. The Taste of Old Town North is a free, family-and pet-friendly event featuring an artisans’ market, gourmet restaurant tastings, children’s improv with Alexandria Children’s Theater and other activities for all to enjoy, and music from two local bands. Participating Old Town North restaurants include Jula’s on the Potomac, the Perfect Pita, Hank’s Oyster Bar, MacMillan Spirit House, Hotel AKA Alexandria’s a.lounge+bar, St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub, and Royal Restaurant. Alexandria’s Old Town North is a walkable, vibrant and diverse community located next to the Potomac River and seven miles from our nation’s capital. The neighborhood hosts a variety of businesses, restaurants, residences, and parks. “The Taste of Old Town North is a tradition I look forward to every year,” says Alexandria Mayor Justin Wilson. “The energy and community spirit this event generates is a joy to be a part of. I applaud all our local restaurants, businesses, entrepreneurs, and residents; along with those who visit Old Town North to experience all we have to offer.” Two local bands will perform at the Taste of Old Town North. Sally and the Little Ghost will perform from 5:00- 6:00 p.m., followed by The Mod from 6:00-7:45 p.m. Several local non-profit organizations will provide information on their activities, and opportunities to volunteer including the League of Women Voters, Hunger Free Alexandria, Alive!, and Volunteer Alexandria. Alexandria Children’s Theater will provide children’s activities including improv. There will also be a demonstration of the Muay Thai fight technique with Amine and the Art of the Samurai with Sensei Marc from 4:00-5:00 p.m. “The Old Town North Alliance is proud to continue its longtime partnership in support of the Taste of Old Town North, a lively community event that provides a wonderful opportunity for residents, local businesses, and visitors to come together and celebrate all that the Old Town North neighborhood has to offer,” says Sarah Almy, Executive Director, Old Town North Alliance. The Taste of Old Town North is presented by the Old Town North Community Partnership in partnership with the City of Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs, with support from Annual Season Sponsor Hilco Redevelopment Partners (HRP), the Old Town North Alliance, River’s Edge Yoga, Canal Center, 1199 North Fairfax, and other local community members.
