ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Jarrod Campbell’s bold fiction traverses and examines the spaces and purposes assumed by the gay male, not least his own. The Reason I’m Here departs from standard expectations of queer behavior to subvert these limited perceptions in favor of honest explorations of desire, amnesia, voyeurism, betrayal, physicality, grief, faith, and uncertainty. Gritty, dreamlike, and reminiscent of Hitchcock and Cortàzar, these poignant stories walk on the wild side of human nature.
Andrew Joseph White is a queer, trans author from Virginia, where he grew up falling in love with monsters and wishing he could be one too. He received his MFA in Creative Writing from George Mason University in 2022. Andrew writes about trans folks with claws and fangs, and what happens when they bite back.
KATHARINE SCHELLMAN is a former actor and one-time political consultant. These days, she writes the Lily Adler Mysteries and the Nightingale Mysteries. Her books, which reviewers have praised as “worthy of Agatha Christie or Rex Stout” (Library Journal, starred review), have been named a Library Journal Best Crime Fiction of 2022, a Suspense Magazine Best Book of 2020, and a New York Times editor’s pick in June 2022. Katharine lives and writes in the mountains of Virginia in the company of her husband, children, and the many houseplants she keeps accidentally murdering.

Since 2018, Reston Pride has operated as a grassroots organization serving Northern Virginia, focused on ensuring a truly inclusive Reston region through engagement with the community. We serve to provide quality cultural education and resources about LGBTQIA+ history and culture to LGBTQIA+ persons and their allies. We offer a variety of programs and resources to support audiences of all ages. The Reston Pride team is comprised of passionate volunteers who are dedicated to creating positive change in the LGBTQIA+ community.
