All About That Hallyu Com-On 2022

Join us for All About That Hallyu Com-On 2022, the center's annual one-day celebration of all things Korean pop culture, featuring guest performances, activities, fan community meetups, workshops, and presentations on Saturday, September 17 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.!

This special annual event aims to unite and grow Korean pop culture fan communities across the DC-Maryland-Virginia region, fostering crossover interest among diverse creative genres including music, dance, fashion, art, webtoons, dramas, and more. All are welcome, both fans and newcomers alike.

Special guest Justin Park will headline the event with a main stage performance at 5:30 p.m. Described by Billboard Korea as a promising Korean American R and B artist, Park has earned fans worldwide for his single "On the Low", which was praised by BTS member Jungkook on Instagram in 2021. Park was invited as a special guest at LA's K-Con in 2018 and 2021, and has been active in the music industry, including producing music videos with Amber, a member of the K-Pop group f(x).

Programs will be held on the outdoor mainstage and indoors at the KCCDC throughout the afternoon. The event kicks off with a performance by K-pop dance group Mythic, followed by a dance workshop with K-pop dance YouTuber Ky, K-Pop random dance play, a K-Talent showcase, and a special guest performance. Visitors can experience Korean culture through fun arts and crafts such as making traditional pattern knots and mini folding screens, and meet fellow K-Pop fans at the Hallyu Community Tent.

Indoors, an introduction to wildly popular K-webtoons (online narrative comics) will be given by Sara Layne, a regular special guest at KCON and who co-presented the very first K-Drama panel at the Austin-based cultural festival SXSW this year. Local fan community leader CD + The Players will talk about the recent evolution of K-Pop and its latest. Visitors can also experience Korean
pop and traditional culture at their own pace in the VR section.

All About That Hallyu Com-On 2022 is free and no reservations are required. Due to capacity limits, access may be restricted at times in certain spaces. For the safety of all visitors, proof of vaccination will be requested upon entry; otherwise, a mask will be required at all times. All About That Hallyu Com-on 2022 is supported by the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE) and is hosted in collaboration with Hallyu communities in the Washington, D.C. region.
