Did you know that the American military established an intelligence gathering operation at Ft. Hunt during WW2?
Code-named after its PO Box (1142), it became a secret interrogation center for high-value Axis POWs.
A second secret program sought to aid the escape of Allied POWs trapped in German camps throughout Europe.
A U.S. Park Ranger will tell us all about it during a presentation beginning at 1 p.m.
If you choose, bring a picnic lunch to the pavilion at noon and chat with other history lovers.
After his talk, the Ranger will lead us on a walking tour of where these activities took place.
The event is free to members and nonmembers.
It takes place on Tuesday, June 16, from 12 to 3 p.m. at Pavilion B, Fort Hunt Park.
Visit www.mvgenealogy.org for more information including a map.
