GMU Visiting Filmmakers Series: Virtual Q&A with Beba filmmaker Rebeca Hunt
Join us for our last Visiting Filmmakers Series event of the semester! Filmmaker Rebeca Huntt and Film at Mason Professor May Santiago will discuss Huntt’s acclaimed new film, Beba, during this one-hour virtual Q&A.
Rebeca Huntt's coming-of-age documentary reflects on her childhood and adolescence in New York City as the daughter of a Dominican father and Venezuelan mother. “You are now entering my universe. I am the lens, the subject, the authority,” she narrates at the start. While it investigates the historical, societal, and generational trauma Huntt has inherited, Beba is also a courageous self-portrait of an Afro-Latina artist hungry for knowledge and yearning for connection.
