The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. (KCCDC) presents Melodies of Peace, a two-day concert (both dates feature the same program) at the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater on September 19 and 20, 2025, commemorating the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation Day.
The program celebrates the enduring friendship between Korea and the United States with performances by Korea’s acclaimed popera group POET and the New York–based fusion band G-Hwaja. Together, these pioneering ensembles will present stirring tributes to freedom and resilience, selections from the hit musical Hero, reimagined K-pop favorites, and beloved songs from Korean films and television dramas, including songs like APT by Rosé.
Marking the historic occasion of Korea’s Liberation Day—Gwangbokjeol, or “restoration of light”—the concert offers a rare opportunity to experience the innovation and energy of the Korean Wave (Hallyu) in a live, cross-cultural performance.
Through Melodies of Peace, KCCDC seeks to honor the legacy of independence, strengthen Korea–U.S. cultural ties, and highlight music’s unifying power as a form of cultural diplomacy.
