Healing Heart Walks - Where hearts heal in community (E-motion walks)

The Movement Community enables people to move with loss together—building connection, belonging, and a sustainable movement practice along the way. Led by certified grief counselor, Andria Pieken. Andria Peiken is a Certified Grief Educator and Life Coach who discovered the healing power of movement after losing her husband, Jon, to non‐Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2021. In the early months of grief, walking and running became a way to steady her mind and find moments of peace while navigating life as a single mother to two teenagers. It also gave her a sense of purpose, leading her and her son to participate in Disney’s Half Marathon, where they raised over $25,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Jon’s honor. Their family has also taken part in Light the Night events, walking alongside others touched by blood cancers and loss. These experiences deepened Andria’s belief in the power of community, connection, and putting one foot in front of the other — literally and emotionally. Today, Andria brings that same spirit to Wellness Loudoun. She creates a gentle, welcoming space for people who have lost someone important to them — a place where movement, nature, and shared understanding help soften the weight of grief. Her hope is simple: that no one has to walk through loss alone, and that healing can begin with a single step. This eight-week, in-person experience brings together 10-15 individuals who have experienced the life-disrupting loss of a person. Each group is led by a trained E-Motion Facilitator and blends movement—such as walking, hiking, or running—with reflection and community, creating space for participants to connect with others who get it. Each week, the group gathers for a brief E-Motion Sacred Circle—a space to honor our people and bring intention to the movement ahead. From there, they move together—walking, hiking, or running toward a shared distance goal—while deepening connection with their bodies, their people, and one another. Between gatherings, participants receive gentle reflections and invitations to carry the practice into daily life—helping them build rhythms of care, connection, and meaning that last long after the experience ends. At the end of the experience, participants complete their shared distance goal together—closing the journey with movement, intention, and community.
