ELDER FINANCIAL FRAUD: A RISING THREAT AND HOW TO PREVENT IT
Please join us for a FREE program at Cowo & Creche in Alexandria, Virginia about the rising threat of elder financial abuse, scams, and fraud. At this educational deep dive into scams, you will learn about how the scams look through the eyes of the predator, how scams appear to the victim, and how it impacts family and friends of the victim. This presentation will be kicked off by Alexandria Sheriff Sean Casey, who will explain scams through the eyes of law enforcement. Following Sheriff Casey’s presentation, John Schwartz, a former FBI agent, and President of “The Center For Combating Elder Financial Abuse” will present financial abuse through the eyes of the predator. This presentation provides a unique perspective on scams and shows the manipulation and precise strategy that goes into scamming an individual. Following Mr. Schwartz, Vanessa Engelhardt, Elder Justice Advocate and founder of Lemonaide, will add to the program by delving into the psycho-social harm that accompanies these crimes. Lastly, Wesley Driscoll, founder of Silver Guard Seniors, will go into his personal experience with the different types of scams he has dealt with, and how to protect yourself against them.
