By joining AmeriCorps with CASA, you will provide valuable services to immigrants and working families, helping them to improve their quality of life and inclusion. You will receive dozens of hours of quality training in financial literacy, tax preparation, citizenship, and youth development, becoming better equipped to apply for jobs at the end of your service year. Some training courses include access to certifications. By completing the program, you may qualify to receive an Education Award paid by the federal government, that you can use to enroll in College or graduate studies. “Get things done” is the AmeriCorps pledge. We encourage you to join the program, so while you invest in your community, you also invest in your own professional development.” Qualifications / Enrollment Requirements for AmeriCorps members U.S. Citizen or U.S. Legal Permanent Resident (recently naturalized citizens are encouraged to apply). At least 17 years old. A high school diploma or GED or agree to obtain one during the service year. Pass a national service criminal history check of the national sex-offender registry, state repository check (Maryland and state of residence), and FBI fingerprint check. English writing and speaking language skills (bilingual in Spanish, French, and other languages). Access to personal transportation preferred. Benefits: Fulltime and part time opportunities available, with some schedule flexibility. A bi-weekly living allowance. Upon program completion, you may qualify for an Education Award to afford College/Graduate studies. Health care insurance for full time members.
