Discover Quintet Summer Workshop Brings Chamber Music to High School Musicians CAMP SPRINGS, Md. — Discover Quintet, a regional music education program founded by Nancy Switkes, announces its 2026 Summer Workshop, running July 27–31 at Davies Memorial Unitarian Congregation in Camp Springs. High school woodwind and brass students will spend five days learning chamber music in an intergenerational setting alongside professional musicians, including Dr. William L. Lake Jr., faculty member at George Mason University and performer with the Capital Wind Symphony. The program brings together accomplished young musicians from Frederick Douglass HS, Bishop McNamara Catholic HS, and DeMathac HS, selected through audition. Students will rehearse and perform music spanning five centuries, learning the collaborative skills that come from ensemble playing where every voice is essential. "When students play in a quintet, every voice matters," said Switkes, founder and director of Discover Quintet. "They don't just grow as musicians — they learn how to listen, support one another, and step into leadership through their wind instrument with confidence." Committed to access, Discover Quintet is offering scholarships covering 50% of participants, awarded based on financial need and musical ability. The program welcomes students from all cultural, ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds. **Workshop Details:** July 27–31, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Davies Memorial Unitarian Congregation 7400 Temple Hill Road, Camp Springs, MD
