Read Between The Vibes
Read Between the Vibes is an intimate, speakeasy-inspired evening where live music, literature, and community come together for one unforgettable experience.
Presented by Sofar Sounds Norfolk in partnership with the Virginia Beach Library Foundation, this one-night event transforms the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library into a vibrant cultural venue during Library Card Sign-up Month.
The evening features nationally recognized recording artist BJ Griffin, award-winning Neo-Soul artist Akeylah Simone, jazz saxophonist Michael Giamille, country-soul artist Roberta Lea, and featured author Dr. Ashanté M. Reese, author of Gather: Black Food, Nourishment, and the Art of Togetherness. The event will be hosted by Tone Hollywood of 100.5 The Vibe.
Guests can arrive early at 6:00 PM to enjoy an interactive community activation presented by Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) and goCommute, explore The Stacks, a curated literary marketplace featuring local authors, artists, and artisans, and enjoy a dynamic menu by Twist Martini Bar & Associates inspired by Black culinary traditions.
Doors open at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $45 and include one drink ticket. A portion of proceeds benefits the Virginia Beach Library Foundation, supporting literacy, lifelong learning, and community engagement.
