Punk and Post-Punk Book Club
Welcome to the Punk & Post-Punk Book Club! From January through April, we will read four memoirs that explore the experiences of some key figures in American and British punk and post-punk. The featured authors are punk poet and musician Patti Smith, Sleater-Kinney guitarist and vocalist Carrie Brownstein, Slits guitarist Viv Albertine, and film director and graphic novelist, James Spooner. The authors’ memoirs explore aspects of punk and post-punk ranging from art, performance, DIY culture, and identity. The club is sponsored by the OSU American Studies Program and facilitated by Dr. David Gray, Teaching Assistant Professor of American Studies. It is hosted by Whitty Books (2306 E Admiral Blvd, Tulsa, OK 74110).
Copies of all four books will be available for purchase at Whitty Books.
