Moliere's Tartuffe is a timeless hilarious comedic masterpiece that satirizes religious hypocrisy and societal pretensions. Set in 17th-century France, the play revolves around Orgon, a wealthy bourgeois who has taken in Tartuffe, a religious imposter, into his home. Tartuffe's outward displays of piety deceive Orgon to the point of promising him his daughter's hand in marriage and bestowing his wealth upon him. However, Tartuffe's true motives and manipulative nature become increasingly evident as he attempts to seduce Orgon's wife and seize control of the household. The play escalates into a hilarious and thought-provoking commentary on gullibility, deceit, and the clash between reason and passion. The play is rated PG-13 and has adult themes.
