The State of Black Food: Black Wall Street Edition is a four-day immersive experience designed to empower, celebrate, and connect Black and Brown culinary professionals from across the country. Taking place August 28–31, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, this powerful gathering is rooted in the historic Greenwood District—home of Black Wall Street—and reclaims space for Black excellence, legacy, and innovation in the food world.
With the theme “Our Table. Our Story. Our Future,” the conference invites chefs, food entrepreneurs, content creators, educators, students, and community leaders to learn, grow, heal, and thrive together. The event includes a dynamic mix of professional development, cultural celebration, and community connection, all designed to help attendees advance in their careers while honoring the traditions and resistance that shaped our foodways.
What to Expect
✨ Workshops & Panels:
Led by industry experts, these sessions explore topics like entrepreneurship, catering proposals, wellness in the kitchen, brand building, social media, AI in food businesses, and more. These interactive discussions are designed to give attendees actionable tools to elevate their businesses and expand their impact.
🍽️ Chef Showcase:
On Thursday, August 28, the Chef Showcase will feature chefs, culinary influencers, and food media personalities offering live demos, tastings, and food-centered conversations. VIP ticket holders receive exclusive access, and the event is also open to the public.
🎤 Masterclasses & Mentorship:
Take part in high-level training sessions, including a rare opportunity to learn from Certified Master Chef Daryl Shular—the first African American to earn this prestigious title. These classes are designed for chefs and professionals ready to take their skills to the next level.
🎶 Wellness & Restoration Experiences:
Daily wellness sessions include sound baths, yoga, meditation, and holistic health workshops designed to support both physical and emotional well-being in the kitchen and beyond.
🏛️ Greenwood District Tours:
Walk the historic streets of the Greenwood District and experience storytelling from local historians about the legacy of Black Wall Street. These tours ground our work in the resilience and brilliance of the past.
🍗 Community BBQ & Chef Tastings:
Our Saturday Community Day features a cookout-style tasting experience open to the public, highlighting the talents of local and national chefs. This event brings the community together in joy, flavor, and fellowship.
🥂 Kulture Awards Gala (Saturday, August 30):
Dress to impress for a formal evening honoring excellence in the culinary world. The night includes live entertainment, a curated dinner, a fashion showcase, and award presentations recognizing chefs, entrepreneurs, and community leaders making bold moves in the industry.
🙏🏾 Morning Fellowship & Farewell Brunch:
We close the weekend with morning fellowship, followed by a Sunday farewell brunch hosted at Transformation Church, blending food, gratitude, and shared vision for the future.
