DAVID "Zink" ZINKE: “Ripples” Music by Pat Bracken. Richard Heakin, a 21-year-old Nebraska man, was beaten to death by 13 teenagers after leaving a local gay bar. Only four were convicted, prompting LGBTQ activists to demand better protection. The 1976 hate crime--and Zink's serendipitous encounter with the now-vacant bar and bartender working that fateful night--prompted the Old Pueblo Playwrights board member and veteran Tucson actor* to explore the murder's impact on Tucson’s gay community.
