Plein Air Painting Festival at Park Place Mall
Up to 50 artists will set up their easels both inside the mall and outdoors, creating original works of art in real time. Guests can watch the creative process unfold, talk with artists and even take home a piece of the day. Finished works will be displayed and available for purchase in Center Court until 5 p.m.
The first 100 visitors of any age and skill level can also join SAACA’s Community Painting Zone, where professional artists offer guidance as you create your own plein-air inspired artwork on a provided mini-canvas.
From 3–4 p.m., judging will take place in Center Court, with up to $700 in awards given to the top works of the day in four categories: architecture, community, nature and youth. The judging panel includes Tucson’s beloved artists Russell Kahn, Paul Gold and Jessica Gonzales, who painted the mall’s enormous Sonoran Skylines mural.
