For the thirteenth year in a row, the legendary, old world Zoppé Family Circus returns to Tucson, setting up their Big Top tent in the parking lot on the corner of Congress and Avenida del Convento in the Mercado District. The 2024 run features twenty-four individual performances between January 6 and 21, including two shorter, discounted performances on Friday mornings, and three performances on MLK Day, Monday Jan. 15.
After nearly 200 years of entertaining families worldwide and 13 years in Tucson, Zoppé Family Circus is back with a bang. Zoppé’s new performance season is in celebration of Carnevale di Venezia, or Carnival in Venice. It is co-produced by Luca Colferi, director of Compagnie de Calza, one of the oldest theater companies in the world, which is based in Venice, Italy. Zoppe brings costumes and masks handmade in Venice, traditional Venetian music, a 500-year-old commedia preshow, and more. Led by Zoppé mainstay Nino the Clown (Giovannim Zoppé), the audience will travel on an exquisite journey through time, and into Carnevale’s intrigue, extravagance, and celebration of life and art.
