Rockin' 4 Heroes

Rockin' 4 Heroes is a free annual public concert held in Oro Valley, AZ. Our 4th annual event is Sunday November 10, 2024 (Veteran's Day weekend). We offer open seating where attendees bring their own chairs and sit on the grassy fields. We have a VIP section with seating, for our sponsors, Gold Star families and local dignitaries, and other VIP's. Last year we were excited to have Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and Senator Ron Barber in attendance, along with Congressman Juan Ciscomani and Congressman Eli Crane. The purpose of the concert is to gather as many people together as possible to help us acknowledge and celebrate our First Responder and Military communities. We believe that they are the true heroes among us who selflessly serve our communities and country, and that too many of us move through our lives unaware of their service and sacrifice until we actually need them. The event is free to the public to encourage attendance (we want no barriers of entry) and is held in a beautiful park setting in the foothills of the Catalinas. Our hero groups are honored in an opening tribute ceremony that includes a Hero Line on stage (uniformed members of all Fire and Police Departments and branches of the military, a Doctor, a Nurse, Gold Star parents etc). It is a very visual and personal presentation of our hero groups. Dr. Richard Carmona (17th Surgeon General of the the United States) and Retired Major General Ted Maxwell (now the chair of the Southern Arizona Leadership Council) are our Honorary chairs. Last year they honored 2 WWll veterans who were present at the event, during our opening ceremony. We open with a prayer, a Welcome message from the Mayor of Oro Valley, presentation of the Colors, the Pledge of Allegiance, our National Anthem, 2-jet flyover, and acknowledgement of our hero groups present on stage in the Hero Line. This opening ceremony is approximately 30-40 minutes long and is immediately followed by the start of the concert which runs approximately 2.5 hours. This year we are excited to welcome Lexington Lab Band to our 4th annual event. They are an exceptional cover band from Lexington, KY, who play a wide range of music but are well-known for their 80's covers. Their music gets people on their feet and singing along. During the concert, which is a family-friendly event, we have Food and Beer Trucks, 50/50 Raffles, Live auctions with great prizes like e-Bikes and vacation trips; games for the kids, and a Heroes Highway filled with 30+ booths with members of our Hero groups manning them. This gives an opportunity for the public to meet these public servants and connect with them. It is also our hope that our younger generations will be inspired to consider a career in public service, and to help them better understand how they serve us. Light up Lives Charity dba Rockin' 4 Heroes, is an Arizona 501 (c)(3). We rely on corporate/business sponsorships, grants, and private donations to fund the professionally-staged event, and all donations are tax deductible. Sponsors are acknowledged through many avenues, including in our print and digital marketing, media interviews, etc. They are also also awarded Hospitality packages for the event which includes VIP seating and parking, and a reception off-site after the concert (which ends at 6 pm) We have seen Rockin' 4 Heroes grow with each annual event and expect 3,500 attendees this year. We are proud to bring Rockin' 4 Heroes to the southern Arizona community and foresee continued growth and extension of the concert to become a weekend-long festival with multiple bands and styles of music. Last year we had a 10-piece string section from the Tucson Symphony Orchestra accompany our band, Leonid & Friends (world-famous Chicago cover band), and they greatly enjoyed the opportunity to engage with the public and be part of the concert. This drew in new attendees to the concert and is an example of how we strive to appeal to all kinds of music lovers.
