Fusion Summer Camp

Fusion Camp at the University of Arizona is a summer camp in Tucson featuring science activities, arts and crafts, exploration of science exhibits, planetarium shows, and outdoor activity time for kids entering grades 1st through 5th in the fall semester. All sessions are taught by educators with a passion for inspiring a love of learning and fun! Dates All sessions are Monday through Friday. Families may register for up to four weeks of camp. Week I - June 3rd - 7th Week II - June 10th - 14th Week III - June 17th - 21st Week IV - June 24th - 28th Times Camp Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Drop off time: 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. Pick up time: 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. Age Groups Please register for the grade your camper will be entering in Fall 2024. We will have two age groups: Grades 1-2 Grades 3-5 Cost General Public Rate: $395 / week Flandrau Member Rate: $355 / week Programming Themes by Week and Age Group Week One 1st - 2nd Grade: Space Adventures June 3rd - 7th Are you ready for a space adventure? Join us for a galactic journey through our solar system to learn about planets, moons, comets, space exploration and much more! Be ready for an out of this world experience. 3rd - 5th Grade: Nature's Fury June 3rd - 7th Brace yourself as we explore nature’s extremes such as monsoons, tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanoes, and more. We will investigate how these forces shape life on Earth and learn how scientists help us understand and survive them. Week Two 1st - 2nd Grade: Bug Buddies June 10th - 14th Discover the amazing world of insects! We will explore our crawling, hopping, and flying friends’ characteristics, diversity, life cycles, and the important roles they play in nature. 3rd - 5th Grade: Black Hole Odyssey June 10th - 14th Explore the inner workings of our universe and learn about galaxies, stars, dark matter, black holes and more! This camp will unlock some of the mysteries of our universe with special guests from the UA Department of Astronomy. Week Three 1st - 2nd Grade: Sharks are Fintastic! June 17th - 21st Dive in to learn why sharks are such fascinating animals. We will learn about different shark species, their anatomy, adaptations, and their importance in marine environments. 3rd - 5th Grade: Engineering Quest June 17th - 21st If you like to problem solve, construct, and create, this camp is made for you! Test your designing and building skills in a series of fun daily challenges creating various contraptions such as rockets, boats, and much more! Week Four 1st - 2nd Grade: Construction Zone June 24th - 28th Unleash your inner builder with a week of designing and building! Campers will use basic engineering principles to design, construct, and test various machines and structures, such as rovers, rockets, and bridges. 3rd - 5th Grade: Bug Bonanza June 24th - 28th Get ready for an exciting journey into the fascinating world of insects! Join us for an unforgettable experience filled with exploration, discovery, and hands-on activities to learn about the incredible diversity of insects around us.
