Join AZPM for a special screening featuring excerpts from the classic Ken Burns documentary Empire of the Air: The Men Who Made Radio.
For 50 years, radio dominated the airwaves and the American consciousness as the first "mass medium." The documentary examines the lives of three remarkable men who played a vital role in inventing and early success of radio - Lee de Forest, Edwin Howard Armstrong, and David Sarnoff.
The screening will be followed by a roundtable discussion with some of the reporters, hosts and producers you hear daily on AZPM stations NPR 89.1 and Classical 90.5, including Nicole Cox, AZPM Radio Program Director; Michael Dauphinais, TV & Radio Announcer; Tony Perkins, Morning News Anchor/Reporter; Katya Mendoza, Radio News & Public Affairs Reporter; and James Reel, Weekday Morning Announcer on Classical 90.5.
