DAE (Differently Abled Entertainment) is presenting a unique production of American Buffalo by David Mamet. The evening performances are at 7:00 pm Thursday-Saturday, June 6-8, 13-15 and the matinee shows are at 2:00 pm Saturday-Sunday, June 8-9 and June 15-16. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime. The play will take place at the DAE Studio/Theater, 2405 N. Castro Avenue, #140, Tucson, AZ and tickets can be purchased online at ourdae.org. Online prices are $20 evenings, $15 matinees. Tickets will be sold in June and at the door at slightly higher cost. DAE wants to warn everyone that there is a lot of adult language used throughout the script. Set in the gritty world of a Chicago junk shop, American Buffalo is a powerful drama that explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and the elusive American Dream. The play centers around three characters: Donny Dubrow, the shop’s owner; Walter “Teach” Cole, a street-savvy hustler; and Bob, a young gofer. When Donny sells a buffalo nickel to a customer for $90, he later suspects it was worth much more. The trio plots to steal the coin back, leading to a day filled with tension, betrayal, and the questioning of their own morals and relationships. Chuck Williams stars as Don Dubrow for the evening performances. Known for his dynamic presence both behind and in front of the camera, Chuck Williams brings a wealth of experience as a Hollywood Film/TV Director, Producer, and Actor. His multifaceted career in the entertainment industry infuses his portrayal of Don with a profound depth and realism. Daryl Mallett, a local actor, director and producer will perform Don for the matinee shows. Anthony Auriemma as Walter Cole (Teach): his interpretation of Teach is expected to be a masterclass in intensity and complexity, capturing the character’s cunning and desperation. Chris Green who played Hannibal in DAE’s recent production of The Curious Savage will also be bringing Teach alive in his own way as well. Ricky Sprau/Marcus Wilson as Bob: Alternating in the role, Sprau and Wilson offer their unique takes on Bob’s innocence and loyalty, which are tested throughout the play. David Mamet is an American playwright and filmmaker. American Buffalo was one of his earlier plays, produced in 1975 and became a film in 1976. Mr. Mamet won a Pulitzer prize for drama for the Glengarry Glen Ross play in 1984 which later became a film in 1992. Other notable works included A Life in the Theatre, Hannibal, Homicide,” House of Games, Rising Sun, Duck Variations, Speed the Plow and The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Verdict, and Wag the Dog DAE (Differently Abled Entertainment) is a non-profit organization founded three years ago by Jon-Lee “Jonni” Campbell.
