TUCSON, Ariz. — Sculpture Tucson, the local non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing Arizona’s cultural landscape through public art projects, workshops, and the creation of a sculpture park in Tucson, announces its Annual Sculpture Festival Show and Sale. Over the same weekend last year, the Festival featured over fifty sculptors and attracted approximately 4,000 attendees from a variety of local and out-of-state communities. This year we will pay special tribute to the Legacy of Dr. William Dantzler, a longtime friend and supporter of Sculpture Tucson.
The Sculpture Tucson Show & Sale runs on Saturday, March 18 and Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the festival is free and open to the public. This year’s event features more than 50 sculptors, a diverse range of 3D artwork across media, artists’ availability, food trucks and more. Sculptures range in size from tabletop to monumental, allowing collectors to purchase for their needs. As part of every festival, Sculpture Tucson offers a Purchase Award where the organization selects a large-scale piece to become public art in Tucson. The 2022 Award winner was Shirley Wagner with her sculpture “Burden” purchased.
About Sculpture Tucson: Sculpture Tucson, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was formed by local artists and entrepreneurs Barbara Grygutis, Steve Kimble and Jeff Timan to promote professional development for sculptors and enhance Arizona’s cultural landscape through public art projects, workshops and the creation of a sculpture museum park in Tucson. We are pleased to announce that Jon Fenton has recently joined the Sculpture Tucson Board . In 2018 the organization developed the annual Sculpture Tucson Festival Show & Sale, which has become the largest outdoor juried sculpture show in Arizona, attracting visitors from around the country, boosts the local economy, and helps local artists make a living through their craft.
