Close to You: Music of the Carpenters
The longest-running Carpenters tribute in North America celebrates its 15th anniversary with this tour, the culmination of nearly 400 shows in 40 states for a quarter million fans. Considered one of the best vocalists of all time, Karen Carpenter captured the attention of a generation with the surprisingly deep material of her unabashedly catchy pop music. Singer and playwright Lisa Rock has compiled a moving tribute to the music and life of Carpenter. Dedicated to re-creating the true sound of The Carpenters, Rock and her band showcase some of the most memorable songs of the 70s including 'We’ve Only Just Begun', 'Rainy Days and Mondays', and of course 'Close to You'. Rock’s four octave range allows her to sing the Carpenters’ greatest hits in their original key, keeping the songs genuine and recognizable for the audience.
