USA Triathlon State Championship / Southern Firecracker Triathlon

The June heat is sure to ignite the fireworks as athletes converge onto Grenada Lake for the Father's Day weekend. 

The weekend kicks off with an Olympic, Sprint or Super Sprint distance events on Saturday as part of the 2023 USA Triathlon Mississippi State Championships.  

Saturday will also feature a USA Triathlon Splash and Dash Series event open to ages 7-15.

On Sunday the 18th athletes return to the Grenada Lake Venue to race the Southern Firecracker Triathlon, the only 70.3 distance race in Mississippi. 

Starting with a single 1.2-mile loop in the pristine waters of Grenada Lake, bike a 56-mile loop out through Grenada County and run a single 13.1-mile loop to complete the inaugural Southern Firecracker.  The bike and run course feature a combination of false flats and challenging rollers.

Transition both days is uniquely tucked away within the North Abutment Campground allowing plenty of room for recreational users of the lake and spectators to take in all the action.

New this year is the Father's Day challenge open to athletes racing events on both days or father and son/daughter combos racing in any combination.
